Hey blog.
In school now. I'll upload Alana's story here. It's really good. It's called Horror Hotel.
Alana Atkins stood on the old, cracked steps of the seemingly ancient building. She gazed at the sign in front of her, ‘’The Coral Bay Hotel.’’ Or at least, that’s what she thought it would have said. Many of the letters were faded away with age and a lot of thunderstorms.
’Honestly,’’ she thought, ’couldn’t the school afford to send us to at least a decent motel? This place is just creepy.’
She ran her fingers absently over the handle of her suitcase and instantly picked up a weird vibe as she stared at the hotel’s gigantic wooden door with its ghastly knocker. A gargoyle. Real charming.
Suddenly, Alana felt two cold hands clutch her shoulders and she almost shrieked. Then she turned around to the mischievous face of Liz Planne, one of her best friends. ‘’Did I scare you?’’ she asked innocently, batting her eyelashes at Alana. ‘’You’re really mature, you know that?’’ Alana tried to be annoyed, but she felt the corners of her mouth tug upwards.
‘‘Guys!’’
The two girls saw their other friends, Kathleen Michael and Nurul Husna running up to them, bags in hand. ‘’Hey!’’ Liz and Alana waved. Stopping at a halt, Kath dumped her luggage on the steps and stared at their home for the next week. ‘’ What a dump.’’
Alana laughed inwardly. Trust Kath to be so straightforward. Husna smiled at her three friends. ‘’ But don’t you think it would be fun, just us friends living in the same building? It will be so great, we can go sightseeing and swimming at the beach..’’
Taking a quick look around, Alana noticed that the hotel was pretty much deserted. There wasn’t a shop or store for miles. No civilization for at least two hours.
The sixteen-year-old sighed. At least there was the beach.
Watching her friends chatter away about the lousy bus ride, she couldn’t help thinking how different they were from each other. Kath was serious and sensible, but had a good sense of humor. Liz was the bubbly, slightly crazy one, ever popular with guys and girls alike. Husna was sensitive and softhearted, always thinking of others and looking on the bright side of things. ‘ Where would I be without these nutcases to keep things interesting?’ Alana smiled to herself.
Just then, they heard their names being called and their other friends, Desmond, Ashraf, Zul and Wilson approaching them. The guys stepped up beside the girls, and just like them, looked at the hotel in obvious disgust.
‘’ Remind me again why I signed up for this trip.’’ Wilson retorted. Desmond punched him in the shoulder.
‘’ Why else? The babes! There has to be some good-looking girls at the beach right? Oh yeah.’’
Alana whapped him on the head. ‘’ Down, tiger.’’ Desmond grinned at her.
‘’ Yeah, I know you think I’m hot.’’ He pulled up his shirt a little for emphasis. Alana rolled her eyes. ‘’ Sure.’’
‘’ Don’t you think we should go inside or something? It’s blazing hot out here. One of us should knock,’’ Ashraf nodded towards the door.
‘’ But shouldn’t we wait for our chaperones to show up?’’ Husna asked. ‘’Who are our chaperones anyway?’’
‘’Methinks it’s those two new teachers. Pierre and Hilary. Don’t know their last names.’’ Wilson replied.
‘’ Definitely Bouvier and Duff. I should know. I’m Mrs. Pierre Bouvier.’’ Said Liz the Simple Plan fanatic.
Ashraf frowned. ‘’ Whatever their names are, can we just go in already? I’m starting to melt!’’ He sunk to the ground with his hands above him in mock agony.
Zul shrugged, then walked up to the door and rapped the knocker. Once. Twice. Three times. The eight of them waited with bated breath, expecting to see Frankenstein open the door. Wouldn’t that match the location.
Suddenly the door creaked. Someone turned the lock and was now twisting the handle. Their eyes got wider.
The door opened to darkness. With only one lit candle hovering in the air.
Alana heard Husna gasp. The rest of them stood frozen in shock. That was, until they saw that the candle was attached to a hand.
And the hand attached to a total Hunk!
‘’ Hey,’’ said the Hunk. ‘’ You must be the Sri Inai Senior School right?’’
Alana, Kathleen, Liz and Husna immediately stepped up at the same time, big smiles across their faces. ‘’ Yeah, that’s us.’’
The Hunk gave them a wide grin. ‘’ Well, come in. Sorry about the candle; the power’s out, it should be back on in a few. Your chaperones are already here. And by the way, I’m Tyler.’’
The girls floated in, their eyes dreamy. The guys eyed the Hunk suspiciously.
‘I don’t like him. He’s got too many teeth.’’ said Wilson.

More Inaians began crowding into the hotel lobby. Alana spotted more of her classmates, Tiffany, Sue, Rosalind and May, sitting on the hotel chairs and talking. Ashley, her sister, and her friends Faiz and Pei Shan hauled their luggage on to a cart. There were some others that she knew and some she didn’t. She spotted everyone but their chaperones.
She hadn’t seen Tyler either. Was he hot or what? ‘ Golden brown hair, hazel eyes, gorgeous bod.. and he’s a great host. We’ve lucked out at last.’
She stood daydreaming for a minute. It would be great to have a boyfriend. Liz and Kath were going steady with their guys, Aiman and Hare. Husna was single, like her, and loved it. But the four of them were not above taking notice of a hunk every once in awhile. Tyler was one of those times.
She noticed Kath texting away at her phone, obviously to Hare. She sighed. ‘ Oh well… guess being single’s my thing.’
Alana’s train of thought was interrupted suddenly when their chaperones, Pierre (?) and Hilary (?) emerged from the kitchen, followed by Tyler and a middle-aged man. Seeing Tyler, her heart thumped faster.
They were submersed in deep conversation. Alana managed to catch a few words, ‘weird happenings’, ‘disappearances’. Hilary and Pierre seemed unsure. It was almost as if they were being warned away.
Now she was anxious. Could Coral Bay really be haunted? It sure looked the part. What kind of place were they going to be living in? The hotel looked as if it had not been occupied for years. Alana made a mental note to look around later.
She didn’t notice Desmond creep behind her with his index fingers outstretched. Alana felt them dig into her sides, and let out a yelp.
‘’ Yipe!’’
Desmond cracked up. ‘’ You are too easy.’’
‘’ I was thinking,’’ she said defensively, rubbing her aching sides. ‘’ Is there something you want?’’
‘’ Nope. Just wanted to tell you, Alana Banana, that our hosts and Romeo over there are briefing us on our stay in the main hall. You’re missing it.’’
‘’ Huh? But they were just.. ‘’
Alana turned around to where she had last seen them, to find it empty. ‘I was so busy brooding on this I didn’t realize they had left. That is so typically me.’ She thought dully.
‘’ Hello? You there? Let’s move!’’ Desmond waved a hand in her face.
‘’Oh. Okay. Thanks for calling me.’’
‘’ Sure. Alana Banana.’’ Desmond smirked.
Alana laughed. ‘’ Cut it out already.’’
He began to sing in a high sing-song voice, ‘’ Alana Banana, you can be my fruitie-mania..‘’ and jumped out of reach as Alana chased him all the way to the main hall.

‘’ .. bathrooms are in the west wing, so I’m sorry, those of you in other wings will just have to deal. ‘’ said Tyler, looking sympathetic.
A few groans greeted his words. Kathleen frowned.
‘’ Terrific. Now, if we’re put in other wings, we have to walk through the halls of this godforsaken hotel in the middle of the night. Just wonderful. ‘’
Alana put an arm around her. ‘’ Cheer up, babe. Maybe we’ll get put in the same room together or something.’’
As if on cue, Pierre pulled a list out of his shirt pocket. ‘’ Pay attention. You will all be paired up with one of your friends. You must go everywhere with this person; never let them out of your sight. Stick together. This person will also be your room-mate, so I suggest you listen.’’
Zul cupped a hand to his ear in mock eagerness, while the other guys present snickered. The girls listened intently.
‘’ Timothy and Raymond, one room. Desmond and Zul. Alana and Kathleen. Sue and Tiffany.. ‘’
Alana let out a sigh of relief at being Kath’s room-mate, and she could tell that Kath was relieved too; she could see her relaxing a bit.
Pierre continued with the list and gave out their room keys. He then took a long look at the middle-aged guy, who was on his right, and introduced him solemnly as, ‘’.. Mr. Moore. He is the caretaker of this hotel and has been for many years. He is also young Tyler’s dad, I’m sure you know him,’’ He looked meaningfully at the girls. ‘’ Anyway, he would like to say something.’’
The man stepped forward and gave a slight cough. ‘’ *Ahem* Uh, welcome to Coral Bay Hotel, I’m very sure you’ll have a pleasant stay with us, if you abide by all the rules. You may do anything you wish, use any facility in any room. But,’’ he added. ‘’ Don’t ever use the 14th floor. It is dangerous, and since I have warned you about it, I am not responsible for what may happen to you if you choose to break this rule.’’
He cleared his throat again, and stepped behind. Hilary stared at him nervously, then turned to the students.
‘ Alright. You may now settle into your rooms. Make sure you are down by two thirty for lunch. Remember, stick with your partners.’’
As the crowd of students broke up, Alana caught up with Husna and Liz, who were also put in the same room together. ‘’ This is great. We’re all in the same wing too. We can meet up in each other’s rooms every night.’’ Husna said.
‘’ Yeah, I guess. This actually could be fun.’’ said Kathleen. ‘’ As long as we don’t run into that weird caretaker. He gives me the chills.’’
They stared at Mr. Moore, trying not to look conspicuous. As if feeling eyes on himself, he in turn looked at the girls with an expression that was hard to read.
‘ Is that fear in his eyes?’ Alana wondered. He had a kind of sunken ness to his eyes, so it was difficult to tell. The girls quickly diverted their attention away from him and instead on getting their bags and piling into the elevator. As the doors closed, Alana stole one last look at the caretaker. She got another weird vibe. She knew that the hotel was strange. But what she didn’t know was that they were all about to find out just how strange it was.
Lol. What a long 1st chapter. It's long but good. ;P I gotta run.
